The top-ranked Salisbury University women’s lacrosse team overcame a five-goal deficit with eight minutes remaining to defeat No. 10 University of Mary Washington 11-10 in a thrilling Capital Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon. Gabby Mongno started the comeback on this feed from Alissa Talbert, making it 9-5 with 7:58 remaining. Mongno would later bring the Sea Gulls within one as Krissy Murphy found her off this free position attempt. Murphy made it 9-6 on this sidearm shot, bringing Salisbury within three. Murphy also tallied a goal earlier in the game on this pick-and-roll with Alissa Talbert. Murphy had a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. Dana King scored two goals in the final six minutes, including this goal from Murphy. King later tied the game 10-10 as she beat the keeper up high after receiving a pass from Taylor Poore. Emma Skoglund tallied two of the final three goals for Salisbury. The first came on this feed from Talbert to make it 10-8. Skoglund then notched the game-winner, burying this pass from Murphy with 1:09 remaining to give the Sea Gulls the victory. Gianna Falcone made nine saves in the game while collecting three groundballs. Falcone also caused a big turnover, intercepting a Mary Washington pass that led to the game-winner for Salisbury. Salisbury is back in action on Wednesday, April 18 for its final regular season home game against Marymount University at 4 p.m.
