VIDEO: Women's Lacrosse vs. Mary Washington
The fourth ranked Salisbury University women’s lacrosse team defeated third ranked University of Mary Washington, 11-7, in the Capital Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. Gianna Demato opened the game with two of Salisbury’s first four goals as the teams went back and forth in the first half. Demato’s first goal came on an assist from Lindsey Wagner, who finished the game with one goal and two assists. Courtney Fegan turned in a solid performance, tallying one goal, two groundballs, two draw controls, and one caused turnover. After the Eagles went on a 3-0 run, Taylor Poore scored with just 20 seconds left in the half to tie the game 7-7. It was all Salisbury after halftime, as Gabby Mongno scored the first two goals of the second half en route to a 4-0 second half performance by the Sea Gulls. Mongno finished the day with a hat trick, her fifth of the season. Skye Graham made five saves in the game to earn the win in net, helping the Sea Gulls shut out the Eagles in the second half for the 11-7 victory. Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 6 as the team hosts Frostburg State University at 12 p.m.
