SALISBURY, Md. – Maroon and gold may be the official colors of Salisbury University, but this Saturday the SU Soccer Complex will be decked out in pink in support of breast cancer awareness and the Susan G. Komen Foundation when the women's soccer team hosts Marymount (Va.) University.
The women's soccer team will host a silent auction during the contest, with three baskets – each with a local feel. One basket focuses on the State of Maryland, another featuring Salisbury University and the third with a beach theme.
At the entrance to the soccer complex will be a table that will have free pink stickers for fans and a variety of literature about the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fans will also be able to make donations to support the fight against breast cancer, as well as purchase pink balloons for $3.
For those who purchase a balloon in support of someone who is fighting or has fought breast cancer, they can write that person's name on the balloon and can affix that balloon to the fence lining the field.
The team will be wearing pink warm-up jerseys and encourage all fans attending the contest to wear pink as well. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
