Oct 11, 2017

The Women’s soccer team played game two of a four-game conference home stand on Wednesday, October 11th against Marymount University. The Sea Gulls weren’t about to let the rain bother them, however, as they scored early and often. Their first goal came only five minutes in, when Julianna Boller received a pass over the heads of the Saints defense from teammate Dana Gordon before redirecting the ball into the net for the early lead. It was Ruthie Lucas’s turn three minutes later when she took advantage of a saints defensive error that led to a wide open field. Lucas controlled the ball for ten yards before placing her shot through the legs of the Saints goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The offensive onslaught continued ten minutes later when Lydia Narum received a centering pass from Lucas before redirecting the ball from the center of the box and into the back of the net to grow the lead to three goals. Brooke Rossiter would get her turn in the 37th minute when she received a pass out to the left of the box from teammate Emma Faust. Rossiter slid into the ball just in time to redirect it past the goalkeeper and lift her team to a 4-0 halftime lead. Katie beam topped off the day in the 53rd minute when she controlled a corner kick from Gordon. Beam punched the ball in before the goalkeeper could get into position. The Sea Gulls would go on to win 5-0 and extend their consecutive shutout streak to five game to open up conference play. The team returns to Sea Gull Soccer Stadium on Sunday, October 15th when they host conference opponent York College of Pennsylvania. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m
