Sea Gulls earn 11 first-place finishes, fall to York

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams competed against York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon, as the men fell 166-96, and the women were defeated 148-114.


Senior Okan Eyigor was part of one first-place and two second-place finishes for the Sea Gulls. Eyigor also earned two individual second-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke, recording a time of 2:01.64 and the 200-yard individual medley, posting a time of 2:04.58. Eyigor, alongside teammates Scott Schirmer, Andrew Ward and Jake Blazer took first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, notching a time of 3:19.95.

Sophomore Peter Moyer earned two first-place finishes on the day posting a time of 1:47.07 in the 200-yard freestyle and also in the 500-yard freestyle, recording a time of 5:01.44.

Salisbury earned three other first-place honors as Blazer, Ward and Tyler Maggio each won their events. Blazer placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 22.49. Ward won the 100-yard freestyle, notching a time of 50.30, while Maggio earned first place in the 200-yard breast stroke with a time of 2:18.83.


In the 100-yard breast stroke, senior Victoria Radcliffe placed first with a time of 1:12.49. In her second event of the day, Radcliffe claimed first place in a nail-biting finish that saw her win the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.12, just .16 of a second ahead of the second-place swimmer. Radcliffe worked with teammates Emma Tarnosky, Layne Gable and Bizu Baldinazzo to claim first place in the 400-yard medley relay, recording a time of 4:14.09.

Baldinazzo and Tarnosky also claimed first and second place in the 100-yard back stroke with Baldinazzo posting a time of 1:03.67, barely edging out Tarnosky's time of 1:03.78.

Gable also placed first in two individual events as well posting a time of 1:02.69 in the 100-yard butterfly and a time of 2:18.66 in the 200-yard butterfly.

Junior Madison Tinus also collected a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, recording a time of 25.85.

The Sea Gulls will return home next Saturday, November 5 as they will host Frostburg State University in Capital Athletic Conference action. The meet is set for 5 p.m.
