SU advances to CAC championship match

SALISBURY, Md. - The second-seeded Salisbury University women's tennis team defeated No. 3 seed Catholic 8-1 in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals on Friday afternoon at the SU Tennis Complex. The Sea Gulls (12-7) advance to Saturday's CAC championship where they will travel and face top-seed University of Mary Washington at 3:30 pm.

Senior Erika Mitry won the No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-0 while fellow senior Jenny Rosler won the No. 2 singles 6-2, 4-6, 10-5. The two combined to win No. 1 doubles 8-4 over the Cardinals. SU swept all three doubles matches and only lost the No. 5 singles match.

Salisbury faced No. 10 Mary Washington earlier this season at home (April 7) and lost 8-1. It was the Sea Gulls' only conference loss this season. SU will take a modest four match winning streak into Saturday's title game.

This was Catholic's final CAC match ever as the Cardinals (12-7) are headed to the newly formed Landmark Conference next season.
