CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Salisbury University men's and women's tennis teams continued their competition in the Golden State on Tuesday, this time both facing off against Pacific (Ore.) University, and both teams walked away with wins. The men earned a 6-3 victory, while the women battled to a 5-4 victory against the Boxers.
The Sea Gulls saw success in their No. 3, 4 5 and 6 singles on the women's side (4-1, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference), with a particularly impressive 6-0, 6-0 win by sophomore Rachel Lupinetti at No. 6. Lupinetti also teamed up with freshman Jessica Babyak to take an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The Salisbury men (6-2, 2-0 CAC) also earned a handful of key match victories, including an 8-4 win by senior Andrew Nottage and junior Daniel Barnas at No. 1 doubles; a back-and-forth showdown between junior Justin Smith and Pacific's Eric Fuyura at No. 6 singles ultimately resulted in another Sea Gull win.
The women are set to face California Lutheran University this afternoon; the men will square off against Pomona-Pitzer College.
