Women's tennis tops Southern Virginia, 9-0

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team earned its sixth shutout victory of the season, topping Southern Virginia University, 9-0.

The Sea Gulls (8-5, 4-1 CAC) began with a sweep of the doubles matches, giving up just three games in the first two matches completed. Junior Sage Cole and sophomore Taylor Cooper earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 and freshmen Annika Kezman and Julia Kwedi won 8-2 at No. 1. Senior Claudia Lohn and freshman Jordan Schaefer took the final doubles point with a 9-7 win.

Salisbury took all six singles points in straight sets with Kwedi at No. 2 and sophomore Shannon Hickman at No. 6 each winning 6-0, 6-0.

Lohn earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 while Cooper and Schaefer at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, each won 6-2, 6-4.

Salisbury finished the sweep of the Knights (8-6, 1-4 CAC) with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 1 by Kezman.

The Sea Gulls head to Frostburg State University on Saturday, April 8 to take on the Bobcats at 11 a.m.
