FREDERICKSBURG, Md. – The Capital Athletic Conference released the 2018 All-CAC Volleyball Teams on Tuesday morning and three Salisbury University players earned recognition from the conference coaches as they were named to the all-conference teams.
Senior Nicole Venturelli earned her third straight All-CAC honor as she was named to the first team for the second straight season. Her 326 kills were a conference-best, as was her 3.20 kills per set mark throughout the 2018 season. Venturelli finishes her career in the maroon and gold with 1,313 kills, which ranks her sixth all-time in program history, while her 3,833 total attempts is the sixth most in program history.
Joining Venturelli on the first team was opposite Carley Cleland, who earned the first all-conference honors of her career. Cleland finished the 2018 season with career-highs in kills, 214, total attacks, 570, and hitting percentage, posting a mark of .291. She also was a key contributor on the defensive end, totaling 90 total blocks.
Junior libero Hailey Dougherty rounded out the list of honorees as she earned All-CAC Second-Team honors, marking the first time in her career she has earned all-conference recognition. For the season, Dougherty tallied 524 digs in her second full season as the libero while posting an average of 5.09 digs per set, which ranks third best in the CAC.
