Women's cross country picked third in CAC preseason poll

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its preseason coaches' poll for women's cross country on Friday and Salisbury University was picked in a tie for third in the poll.

The Sea Gulls and the University of Mary Washington each earned 37 points in the poll, though Salisbury received one of the eight first-place votes. York College of Pennsylvania took six first-place votes and 47 points to enter the season as the favorite while Christopher Newport University earned 38 points and one first-place vote to sit in third.

Southern Virginia University was picked to finish fifth, with 26 points, followed by St. Mary's College of Maryland (17 points), Frostburg State University (14), and Penn State University-Harrisburg (8).

The Sea Gulls will run in four regular season events beginning with the Salisbury University Fall Classic on September 1 at Winter Place Park. The Capital Athletic Conference championships will be hosted by Southern Virginia University on October 27.
