SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University seniors
Jessica Mills and Meghan Klug
each recorded a double-double Wednesday evening but it wasn't
enough as the Sea Gulls fell to Catholic University, 56-51, in a
Capital Athletic Conference women's basketball contest at the Maggs
Center.
Mills finished the contest with a team-high 17 points and 12
rebounds while Klug added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Salisbury trailed by only two at the break, 26-24, after the
first half saw nine lead changes. The Sea Gulls shot 23 percent in
the first half while the Cardinals shot 37.
Catholic never trailed in the second half as the Cardinals built
a 10-point lead with 3:37 left in the game. Salisbury clawed back
into the game and got within three points with just over one minute
left but a pair of CUA free throws by Kristen Linderoth put the
game out of reach for SU.
Meghan Phillips finished the game with 12
points and a game high five assists.
CUA's Justine Gray finished with game-high 18 points as she shot
7-of-9 from the field.
Salisbury will next play on Saturday, January 20, as they travel
to Arlington, Va., to face CAC opponent Marymount University.
