ARLINGTON, Va. - Ray Williams
continued to light up the scoreboard on Saturday afternoon as he
scored a game-high 27 points but it wasn't enough as Salisbury
University fell to Marymount University (Va.), 76-65, in Capital
Athletic Conference men's basketball action at the Verizon Sports
Arena.
The senior guard hit five three-pointers for the Sea Gulls while
fellow senior backcourt teammate Segun Odumeru
added 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.
Salisbury (9-7, 4-3 CAC) led for part of the first half but the
Saints (7-8, 2-5 CAC) took their first lead at the midway point of
the half and never looked back. Marymount held a 10-point lead,
36-26, at halftime.
The Sea Gulls pulled within two points, 48-46, midway through
the second half but the Saints answered with a 13-0 run to build a
commanding lead, 61-46, with six minutes remaining in the game.
Salisbury has lost its last three Capital Athletic Conference
games and five of its last six games.
MMU was led by Mike Gray who notched a double-double as he
scored 24 points and added 12 rebounds.
The Sea Gulls will next play on Tuesday, January 23, as they
host Hood College in a Capital Athletic Conference game at 7:30
p.m. at the Maggs Center.
