GLASSBORO, N.J. - Senior Jessica
Mills notched a double-double as she scored a game-high 20
points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Salisbury University
women's basketball team to a 10-point win over Rowan University,
66-56, Monday evening on the road. The Sea Gulls entered the
contest with Rowan having lost five of their last six games,
including two straight.
Salisbury (10-7) trailed 33-28 at halftime but scored the first
10 points of the second half to take a 38-33 lead with less then 17
minutes in the game. The Profs (8-9) tied the game at 42, six
minutes later, but Salisbury quickly went on a 7-0 run and led
49-42.
Rowan made one final push to regain the lead from SU as the
Profs pulled to within three, 59-56, with two and a half minutes to
play. The Sea Gulls quickly squashed that run and iced the game by
scoring the game's final seven points.
Senior Meghan Klug scored 10 points and added
five rebounds while sophomore Marissa Manzo came
off the bench to pull down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Rowan was led by Lauren Byrne who scored 15 points and pulled
down eight rebounds.
This is the second year in a row the Sea Gulls have defeated the
Profs.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, January 27, as they
travel to York, Pa., to face Capital Athletic Conference opponent
York (Pa.) College at 4 p.m.
