EWING, N.J. - The Salisbury
University softball team had its eight-game win streak snapped when
they traveled to Ewing, N.J., but they earned a split with The
College of New Jersey in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader.
Salisbury (15-5) won the second game 2-0. SU jumped out to a 1-0
lead with two outs in the top of the first inning when freshman
Ali Ritter (2-for-3) hit a single that plated
sophomore Stacey Malarkey. The Sea Gulls added one
more run in the fourth inning when senior Nichole
Fuqua (2-for-3) scored on a wild pitch.
The lead was enough for SU starter Stacy Davis
(4-2) to earn the win as she went the distance and struck out five
batters. Davis also took a no-hitter into the sixth inning until
she gave up a two-out double to Tara Harrigan. She finished the
game only giving up three hits.
TCNJ (7-3) had a strong outing from its starter Ashley Minervini
(3-1) who, despite the loss, pitched a complete game and only gave
up five hits.

snapped at eight. SU was led by the bat of junior Kurisha
Hoffman (2-for-3, 2 RBI) who pelted two homeruns and
scored two runs. The Gulls got their only other two hits from
Ritter and Malarkey who both added singles.
New Jersey put up 12 hits, 10 runs and was led by Kristin Boyer and

first two innings, TCNJ jumped out to a 7-0 lead which proved to be
insurmountable for SU.
