Flowers earns NFCA/Rawlings Gold Glove

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Sam Flowers of the Salisbury University softball team has been recognized as the top left fielder in all of NCAA Division III. Flowers earned the 2026 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/Rawlings Gold Glove Award for the position on Thursday afternoon.

Flowers, the senior from Owings, Md., wrapped up her Sea Gull career with a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 in her senior campaign to earn the Gold Glove honors. She tallied a career-high in putouts this season with 79, along with two assisted putouts.

"I'm very grateful and blessed to play the sport I love," Flowers said. "This is something I have worked towards since coming to Salisbury. I'm very thankful to my coaches and teammates for their endless support! As always, Go Gulls!"

She also posted a career-high batting average of .417 with 45 hits and surpassed 100 career hits at SU. She added six doubles, one triple, 21 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. Flowers lived on base, earning a .565 on-base percentage with 38 walks earned. Flowers also tallied All-C2C First Team honors and NFCA All-Region Second Team honors. Flowers graduated Magna Cum Laude in Physical Education and Health Education with a 3.82 GPA, and just recently earned CSC Academic All-District honors.

"I am so thrilled for Sam," said Sea Gull head softball coach Lacey Lord. "She had an incredible season, and being named the Rawlings Golden Glove left fielder is just an incredible honor. There is no doubt she is the best in Division III softball!"

This is the third consecutive year a member from the Salisbury Sea Gull softball program has earned NFCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors. Flowers wraps up her Sea Gull softball career with 241 total putouts in 185 games played. She tallied a .315 career batting average with 141 hits, 20 doubles, eight triples, 65 RBIs, and 47 stolen bases.

Flowers has tallied All-C2C First Team two times (2023 & 2026), C2C Rookie of the Year in 2023, NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete two times (2023 & 2025), NFCA All-Region this year, and now adds NFCA/Rawlings Gold Glove into her trophy case.
