YORK, Pa. - The top-ranked Salisbury University
men's lacrosse team defeated York (Pa.) College 27-2 on Wednesday
in a Capital Athletic Conference road contest before a crowd of
450.
Junior Greg Titus scored a game-high five goals
to lead the Sea Gulls (10-0, 5-0 CAC) on offense. The two teams
traded goals to start the game before SU scored 12 straight in the
final 23 minutes to take a 13-1 halftime lead over the Spartans
(2-4, 1-1 CAC).
The Sea Gulls had 15 different goal scorers, seven players
scored two or more goals, as SU assisted 18 of its 27 goals.
Senior Matt Dasinger and junior Kevin
Kustron scored three goals apiece while senior
Eric Bishop (two goals, two assists), juniors
Matt Hickman and Brett Yoder (two
goals, two assists) and sophomore Kylor Berkman
(two goals, two assists) all scored two goals for the maroon and
gold. Junior Kyle Burto, sophomore Matt
Berry and freshman Brian Schuster (one
goal, two assists) were the other Gulls that passed out two
assists.
York's first goal was scored by Ryan Schab at the 8:20 mark in
the first quarter and Kyle Henninger scored a man-up goal midway
through the third quarter.
SU goalie Max Zarchin (four saves) played the
first half to earn the win. The Sea Gulls outshot the Spartans
54-19, scooped up 69 groundballs, won 23-of-33 faceoffs and was a
perfect 19-for-19 on clears.
Salisbury now turns its attention to this weekend's showdown
with No. 5 Gettysburg College when the two teams meet at Sea Gull
Stadium at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 31.
