ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The No. 8 ranked
Salisbury University baseball team won Saturday's Capital Athletic
Conference game at St. Mary's (Md.) College with an impressive 24-0
shutout of the Seahawks.
Salisbury (22-3 overall, 5-1 CAC) matched its highest run total
of the season and recorded its sixth shutout of the season. SU had
13 different batters record a hit in the win, 12 of which recorded
a RBI in the process.
SU was led by freshman Mike Celenza (3-for-5,
four RBIs) and juniors Justin Armiger (3-for-3,
two RBIs) and Brian Camper (3-for-6, three RBIs).
Two freshmen outfielders Hunter Wessells and
Matt O'Keefe came off the bench and scored three
times for the maroon and gold.
Sea Gull senior pitcher Bryan Brainer (6-1)
started the game and held St. Mary's scoreless for the first-time
this season. Brainer threw five innings of shutout ball allowing
six hits as he struck out five. Three Sea Gull relievers closed out
the game with four hitless innings.
Salisbury wrapped up the month of March with a 15-2 record where
the Gulls outscored their opponents 204-49.
The Gulls will hit the road, again, this Wednesday, April 4,
when they travel to York, Pa., to face the Spartans in a CAC game.
