DOVER, Del. - The Salisbury University softball
team picked up its 10th and 11th shutouts of the season as the Sea
Gulls cruised to a doubleheader sweep of Wesley College, 8-0 and
12-0, Tuesday afternoon.
Salisbury (30-7) scattered a mere three combined hits in both
games as Stacy Davis (13-2) and Kirsten
Wells (14-5) each earned a win.
In game one, the Sea Gulls jumped out early on the Wolverines as
they scored five runs in the first inning. That would be more than
enough for Davis who went four innings, gave up one hit and struck
out five to pick up the victory.
Kelly Waskewicz, Nichole Fuqua
and Kurisha Hoffman each recorded multi-hit games
for the Sea Gulls.
Game two was much of the same for Salisbury as the Sea Gulls
scored all 12 of their runs in the first three innings.
Waskewicz, Stacey Malarkey and Jen
Cahall all had triples in the game.
Salisbury totaled 21 hits in the two games while Wesley had a
combined nine errors.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, April 25 as they
host Washington (Md.) College at 3:30 pm.
