WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 21 Salisbury
University volleyball team capped off its regular-season schedule
with its 33rd consecutive victory on Wednesday night with a 3-0
shutout against Gallaudet University. The Gulls won
the Capital Athletic Conference match in straight sets 25-23,
25-20, 25-19.
Salisbury (33-1, 8-0 CAC) was paced by senior Stacey
Krebs' 11 kills and two solo blocks along with the 19
combined kills from sophomore Alexandria Malesick
(seven) and juniors Rachel Downes and
Nicole Massarelli (six each). Downes, the AVCA
Division III National Player of the Week also contributed nine
digs and one solo block in the victory.
Senior Jaime Marzocchi set the Gulls up for
success with 32 assists and nine digs while junior Gabby
Long made a team-high 20 digs. Sophomore Melissa
Stansbury served four aces against the Bison and
recorded 13 digs in the conference win.
Salisbury, the defending CAC champions, is the top seed in the
upcoming CAC tournament and receives a first round bye. The Sea
Gulls host a conference semifinal game on Thursday, November
6, against the winner of Gallaudet (15-16, 4-4 CAC) and
University of Mary Washington. The match will be held in the Maggs
Center, the start time has not been determined yet.
