Sea Gulls cruise to three-set win against Hood

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University volleyball team cruised to a three-set win Thursday night, remaining perfect on the season in the Capital Athletic Conference, dropping Hood College 25-5, 25-11, 25-14.

Salisbury (21-4, 6-0 CAC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first set and never looked back, pushing its winning streak against CAC opponents to 22 matches, dating back to late in the 2007 season.

Five players tied or set career highs Thursday night as every Sea Gull saw action in the match, led by freshman outside hitter Kristin Jehle's (Bethesda, Md.) career-best nine kills. Jehle's nine kills were the most of any player in the match as she led the Sea Gulls to their best hitting day of the season, with a team percentage of .370.

Sophomore setter Lindsey Saltzman (Penfield, N.Y.) had a team-high 14 assists while freshman Marissa Graydon (West Friendship, Md.) added a dozen.

Junior outside hitters Kelly Williams (Laurel, Md.) and Melissa Stansbury (Eldersburg, Md.) each had six kills in the match.

Salisbury will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when it travels to Stevenson University. The match, which will be the Sea Gulls' final regular-season CAC road match of the year, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
