WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 2 Salisbury
University women's lacrosse team added another win to its season
total with a 21-9 victory over No. 11 Catholic University of
America on the road Sunday afternoon. The Sea Gulls (6-0) have won
28-straight regular season games dating back to April 2007.
The Sea Gulls were led by sophomore attacker Logan
Bilderback as she set a new career-high with seven points
on three goals and four assists. The Gulls had a trio of
performer's net four goals today with senior midfielder
Robyn Bishop (five ground balls) and juniors
Kim Cudmore (two assists) and Beth
Rhodey (one assist). Senior midfielder Ashleigh
Gender registered two goals and two assists. SU received
one goal from seniors Jessica Chmielewski (two
assists), Holly Johnson, Courtney
Sorenson and sophomores Meagan Osipowich
and Trish DiGirolomo. Senior goalie Sonja
Stuart (5-0) played the entire 60 minutes as she made nine
saves.
Salisbury began the game with a goal from Chmielewski off a feed
from Rhodey just under two minutes into the game. Catholic (1-2)
found the back of net to knot the score at 1-1 off an unassisted
goal by Laura Haring (two goals, one assist). From there Sea Gulls
outscored the Cardinals 9-4 to take a 10-6 lead into halftime.
Catholic scored the game's first goal to begin the second half,
21 seconds in, on an unassisted goal by Kiki Sackett. The Sea Gulls
went on an 11-0 run to place the game out of reach. Catholic scored
a pair of goals in the closing minutes to close the deficit to 12
goals.
The Cardinals were led by Haring, Kate Robinson and Mary
Swarthout who all scored two goals and recorded one assist. Goalie
Melissa Brashear made 10 saves in the loss.
Salisbury University will return to Capital Athletic Conference
(CAC) play this week when the Sea Gulls host Marymount (Va.) on
Wednesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. under the lights at Sea Gull
Stadium.
