YORK, Pa. - The Salisbury University volleyball
team beat Capital Athletic Conference foe York College, 3-0, on
Wednesday night, Sept. 16. The win boosts the Sea Gulls' record up
to 8-1 (1-0 CAC). Salisbury has won its last six matches in a
row, coming off of a tournament victory at the Washington &
Jefferson tournament last week.
It was a big night for junior outside hitter Lexy
Fitzkee (Fallston, Md.)as she tallied up six kills, five
aces and 10 digs. Fellow outside hitter, junior Melissa
Stansbury (Eldersburg, Md.), also tacked on 10 digs.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Downes (Salisbury,
Md.) added nine kills and six digs to the Sea Gulls'
25-21, 25-16, 25-19 victories.
Senior libero Gabby Long (Bel Air, Md.) also
had 11 digs and a kill in the win against the Spartans (5-4,
0-1).
The Gulls will be home this weekend, as they square off
against The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and Haverford
College on Friday, in day one of the SU Invitational (Sept. 18 and
19). Salisbury will then face Alleghany College, as well as
Baldwin-Wallace College, on Saturday.
