DOVER, Del. -- The Salisbury University
volleyball team topped Wesley College Wednesday night with a 3-0
victory. The Sea Gulls came out firing and never looked back,
claiming the win 25-16, 25-16, 25-3.
The Sea Gulls had a balanced attack in the match, getting five
kills each from junior outside hitter Lexy Fitzkee
(Fallston, Md.), senior middle hitter Nicole
Ma
ssarelli (Clarksville, Md.), senior outside hitter
Rachel Downes (Salisbury, Md.) and junior outside
hitter Kelly Williams (Laurel, Md.). Fitzkee also
added six digs.
Senior libero Gabby Long (Bel Air, Md.) served
the match's final 12 points as the Sea Gulls closed things
out. During the stretch, Long recorded five of her team-high six
aces. She also had five digs on the night.
The Sea Gulls improve to 17-2 on the season overall with the win
and are a perfect 4-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play. The win
over the Wolverines (5-12, 1-1 CAC) is Salisbury's 19th
straight against a CAC opponent.
Salisbury will be off for the next week before heading to Newport
News, Va., for the CNU Invitational, hosted by Christopher Newport
University on Oct. 9 and 10. The Sea Gulls will put their perfect
CAC record on the line on Oct. 13 when they host Gallaudet
University as part of the Dig Pink rally at Maggs Physical
Activities Center.
