Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury
University women's basketball continued its streak of Capital
Athletic Conference contests on Monday evening as the Sea Gulls
squared off against the University of Mary Washington at Maggs
Physical Activities Center. The maroon and gold's effort against
the CAC's top-ranked team was not enough, though, as Salisbury
dropped the contest 40-72.
Salisbury (5-9, 2-5 CAC) struggled to find its rhythm in the
first half; the Sea Gulls took an abundance of shots, but just
couldn't get them to drop as they took a 17-point deficit into the
locker room at halftime. Sophomore guard Glen
Charlton (Landover, Md.) led the Sea Gull charge with
nine points in the first.
Mary Washington (12-3, 7-0 CAC) carried its momentum into the
second half. Salisbury finished the game strong, but was unable to
overcome the Eagles' substantial lead. Senior forward Janay Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) was the only
Sea Gull to hit double-digit point totals in the game, netting 11.
Fellow senior forward Kylie Hall
(Baltimore, Md.) pulled down 10 rebounds and scored
eight points.
The maroon and gold continue their CAC play this Wednesday as
the Sea Gulls hit the road to face Stevenson University; tip-off is
scheduled for 5 p.m. Salisbury's next home contest, which is also
the women's basketball program's Alumni Day, will be against CAC
opponent St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday, Jan. 23. Tip-off is
set for 2 p.m.
