Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Salisbury University
men's basketball team earned its first win of 2010, topping
Gallaudet University, 66-58, Wednesday night. The win is the second
in the Sea Gulls' last three games and is their first in the
Capital Athletic Conference this season.
Salisbury closed the first half on 30-13 run to take a 12-point
lead into the locker room. The Bison (4-6, 0-4 CAC) would not go
quietly, getting the lead back to single digits and staying within
reach throughout much of the second half, but the Sea Gulls never
gave in.
Junior forward Mike Maczko (Bel Air,
Md.) scored 11 points in the second half to help keep
the Sea Gulls on top. Maczko finished with a team-best 17 points, a
career-high total.
Maczko also added 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double this
season; it was one of two double-doubles by Salisbury on the night
as senior guard/forward Greg Palmer (Salisbury,
Md.) finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for his
second double-double this season.
Three other Sea Gulls (5-6, 1-2 CAC) scored in double figures,
marking the first time in the 2009-10 season that Salisbury has had
five players score at least 10 points in the same game. Senior
guard Devin
Jones (Severn, Md.) scored 14 points while senior
guard/forward Drew Dickson (Silver
Spring, Md.) and sophomore forward Lee Righter (Columbia,
Md.) each added 10 points. Jones was also good for
four assists and had three steals without a single turnover.
Salisbury will take to the floor again on Saturday, when it
hosts Marymount University at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
