NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The No. 12 Salisbury
University baseball team fell on the road Thursday afternoon at
Christopher Newport University, 14-1.
The Captains (24-14) came up with 16 hits off the Sea Gull
pitching staff. Junior Dustin
Herbert (Huntingtown, Md.) took the loss for
Salisbury, allowing seven runs on nine hits in three innings of
work; he struck out three in that time.
CNU took a 9-0 lead through five innings scoring three in the
third, four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
Christopher Newport's Sean Chitsaz earned the win, allowing just
the one Salisbury run on five hits over eight innings of work. The
Sea Gulls (24-9) came up with six hits in the game, all singles.
Junior Brad Baylis
(Pocomoke, Md.) was the only Sea Gull with multiple hits in the
game, he finished 2-for-4.
The Sea Gulls will look to get a win back against CNU on Friday,
when the Captains visit the SU Baseball Field. The single game is
scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
