Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Salisbury University
volleyball team fell behind by one game on Tuesday evening in its
first Capital Athletic Conference match of the season, against St.
Mary's (Md.) College, but roared back in the fourth and fifth sets
to take a 3-2 victory over the Seahawks.
The first two games were closely contested, with Salisbury (7-2,
1-0 CAC) taking the first game 25-23 and St. Mary's (4-3, 0-1 CAC)
capturing the second game by the same score. The Seahawks took the
third set, 25-18, to take a one-set lead over the maroon and gold,
but Salisbury battled back with scores of 25-22 and 15-6 to earn
its seventh "W" of the season.
Sophomore middle hitter Chelsea
Glowacki dominated on the court, posting 15 kills with
nine block assists and one solo block. Classmate Carley
Todd, a setter, posted 12 kills with zero errors, 11
digs and two block assists.
Senior outside hitter Melissa
Stansbury continues to impress for the Gulls, putting
up a team-high 18 digs in the win. Sophomore outside/middle hitter
Kelly
Vieira wasn't far behind, registering 17
digs.
Salisbury will be at home this weekend, Sept. 17 and 18, to host
the SU Invitational. The Sea Gulls' first match of the weekend,
against Eastern University, will be on Sept. 17 at 5 p.m.
