Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The
Salisbury University volleyball team saw continued success in the
second and final day of the Battlefield Classic on Saturday
afternoon, as the Sea Gulls won both of their matches to remain
undefeated in 2010.
In their first match of the day, against Widener University,
Salisbury (4-0) earned a sound 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-14, 25-21)
and saw solid contributions from several players. Sophomore
Chelsea
Glowacki was one of those players, registering 10
kills on 13 attempts without committing a single error. Sophomore
Carley
Todd, who aced her way into the Sea Gull record books
last night with an 11-ace match, had 11 kills on 19 attempts;
additionally, the setter went 21-for-39 in set attempts. Fellow
setter Lindsey
Saltzman, a junior, went 15-for-30 in set attempts and
notched a team-high nine digs.
The Sea Gulls' second and final match, against host school
Gettysburg College, had a similar result. The maroon and gold
rolled past the Bullets, 25-9, 25-22, 25-19 to register their
fourth-straight 3-0 win of the year. Glowacki had yet another
10-kill match (0 errors, 13 attempts) and Todd went 13-for-31 in
set attempts with three block assists. Saltzman went 15-for-32 in
set attempts and put in another nine digs. Sophomore Jenna
Shay contributed seven kills on 13 attempts, while
perfect passing and five additional kills by senior Melissa
Stansbury sealed the deal for the maroon and gold.
For their outstanding play throughout the weekend, Todd and
Glowacki were named to the All-Tournament team.
Salisbury will have a six-day hiatus from competition before
hitting the road once again, this time to compete in the Dickinson
College Tournament in Carlisle, Pa. on Sept. 10-11.
