Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 18 Salisbury University softball team suffered a 9-3 loss on the second and final day of the SU Invitational against Shenandoah University on Saturday afternoon at the Henry Parker Complex, but bounced back against Baruch College with a 10-0 win in five innings of play.

The Sea Gulls (10-4) had a slow start against Shenandoah (8-5), which took full advantage and scored a combined eight runs in the first three innings of play.

Salisbury was able to add a run to the board in the top of the fourth when sophomore Lindsay McCabe hit a solo home run over the right field fence, along with a run in the bottom of fifth off the bat of senior Taylor Webb.

The Gulls' defense was able to keep the Hornets from bringing any additional runs in until the top of the seventh inning when both teams tacked on one additional run in the seventh inning.

Junior pitcher Erika Brittingham (7-3), who started the first game and was relieved by senior Kelly Leary, came back strong against Baruch College (0-3) as she struck out six of 10 batters faced, walking only one.

In the first two innings of play against Baruch, Salisbury brought eight runs across the plate with the help of two home runs. The first was hit by sophomore Hannah Mills as she brought in three RBI. The second was a grand slam that was crushed over the left field fence by sophomore Michelle Gravdahl in the second inning.

The last two runs were scored late in the top of the fifth inning pushing the Gulls' lead to 10-0.

Freshman Harley Hill led the Sea Gulls as she went 3-for-4 in the game, scoring once and driving home two runs. Junior Jamie Wells finished on the mound against Baruch College, allowing just one hit.

Salisbury will face Capital Athletic Conference foe Frostburg State University in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 at the SU Softball Field.
