Sea Gulls capture 15th-straight CAC Championship with 18-0 win

Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – The ninth-ranked Salisbury University softball team captured its 15th consecutive (16th overall) Capital Athletic Conference championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating Frostburg State University 18-0 in five innings.

The Sea Gulls (31-4) held the upper hand all day as they scored three runs in first inning and continued to drive home runs in all five innings of play.

Lead-off batter Harley Hill went 3-for-4 on the day as she drove in three RBI and crossed the plate three times.

The Gulls scored five runs in the fifth inning to bring the tally to 18-0, with eleven different Salisbury players seeing action in the inning.

The maroon and gold not only controlled the batter's box, but they were also able to keep the Bobcats from scoring, making this their nineteenth shutout of the season.

Junior pitcher Erika Brittingham (21-3) picked up the win as she faced nine batters in three innings of play, striking out five. Brittingham was relieved in the fourth inning by senior Kelly Leary, who kept the Bobcats at bay and the scoreboard empty.

Salisbury will continue its regular season on Thursday, April 21st, as the Sea Gulls head to Gettysburg College for a doubleheader against the Bullets. The games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
