Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 14-ranked Salisbury University softball team celebrated its three seniors on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Hood College and another perfect 12-0 Capital Athletic Conference regular season. This is the eighth undefeated CAC regular season in Head Coach Margie Knight's 15 years with the Sea Gulls, and the program's ninth overall.

In the first game, Salisbury (27-4) took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning as it took advantage of two early Blazer errors.

The Sea Gulls brought two additional runs across the plate in the bottom of the fifth with senior Kristin Lord getting the Gulls on base with a walk to start the inning. Sophomore Sarah Alpaugh then singled through the left side to collect an RBI followed by a double down the left field line by sophomore Michelle Gravdahl to bring the tally to 3-0.

Junior pitcher Erika Brittingham had a strong showing on the mound as she struck out the first nine Hood (6-24, 4-8 CAC) batters of the game. On the day Brittingham allowed one hit and struck out a career-high 17 of the 22 batters she faced.

In game two, Salisbury quickly brought the score to 6-0 in two innings of play and ended the game in the bottom of the sixth with a score of 8-0.

Leading off for the Sea Gulls in the first inning, freshman Harley Hill drove a solo shot over the right field fence for her third home run of the season. Hill's shot sparked the offense as five runs were then scored in the second inning, two off the bat of Gravdahl, who homered over the left field fence.

Junior Casey Zaino added one run in the fifth inning as she sent her first home run of the season out of the park bringing the score to 7-0.

Senior pitcher Kelly Leary went all six innings as she allowed just one hit, walked one, and struck out 11.

The Sea Gulls, the top seed in the this week's CAC tournament, will host a first-round game on Tuesday afternoon, April 12, against an opponent yet to be determined. For updated schedule information visit www.suseagulls.com as the week progresses.
