Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The 10th-ranked Salisbury University softball team took the field on Friday evening in search of its second win of the NCAA Regional, but a late start due to a thrilling, 13-inning game between Emory University and Christopher Newport University allowed the Sea Gulls to play just four innings before their game against Shenandoah University was suspended due to darkness.
When the game picked up on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., the Sea Gulls (35-4) had a 4-0 lead through four full innings of play. The remaining three innings went by relatively quickly, with no additional scoring and just four hits between both teams.
Junior pitcher Erika Brittingham finished out the contest strong to earn the win, striking out seven in seven innings of work.
