Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University volleyball team earned its second Capital Athletic Conference victory Wednesday night over the St. Mary's (Md.) College Seahawks. Salisbury won the match in three sets by the scores of 25-9, 25-19 and 25-12.
The Sea Gulls jumped out to an early lead in the first game on a 10-2 run. They finished the game out as strong as they began it, on an 11-3 spurt to take the game in dominating fashion.
St. Mary's (2-7, 0-1 CAC) made the second game closer, as the Gulls led in the late stages of the game by only one before going on a 7-2 run to take the score from 18-17 to the final of 25-19. Opposite Jenna Shay and middle hitter Kelly Vieira, both juniors, each had two kills during the late-game push for the Sea Gulls.
Salisbury (9-1, 2-0 CAC) went back to domination in the third game allowing the Seahawks only seven points in the final 28 points of the game. The Sea Gulls went on a 21-7 point tear to finish the match in victory.
The Gulls were led by junior middle hitter Chelsea Glowacki and Shay with 10 and 11 kills, respectively. Vieira chipped in seven kills while leading the team with 10 digs.
Junior setter Carley Todd led the team with 19 assists and senior setter Lindsey Saltzman was close behind with 17 assists. Todd also registered four kills and four digs.
Salisbury will be in action again on Saturday as it takes on Haverford College and Swarthmore College at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The first match is set to start at 1 p.m.
