Box Score SALISBURY, Md. -- Junior Chelsea Glowacki and sophomore Sam Seifert recorded 12 kills apiece to lead the Salisbury University volleyball team to a 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10) victory over the University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action at Maggs Physical Activities Center Tuesday.
The win for SU (17-1, 4-0 CAC) is its 11th consecutive.
Junior Carley Todd posted a double-double of 23 assists and 11 digs while freshman Michelle Meehan had a team-high 16 digs. Juniors Jenna Shay and Kelly Vieira had nine and eight kills, respectively.
Mary Washington (12-2, 3-1) led the first game from wire-to-wire. The Eagles took their biggest led at 12-6 on a Karissa Herrick kill. The Sea Gulls rallied for 13 of the next 21 points to move within 20-19 on an ace by senior Lindsey Saltzman.
UMW closed the game with five straight points to go up, 1-0, in the match.
The Sea Gulls broke an early tie in the second game to jump out to comfortable lead at 15-9 when Todd and Glowacki teamed up for a block, forcing a Mary Washington timeout. The Eagles closed to within one point on three occasions but Glowacki ended the game with a kill, assisted by Todd, for the win.
The Eagles won the third, breaking open a 19-19 tie score with six of the final nine points to reclaim the match lead.
Salisbury jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the fourth before UMW rallied to tie it at 13-all. The Sea Gulls took the lead for good on a Seifert kill at 15-14 and nailed it down for a three-point victory when Glowacki and Seifert stuffed an attack from the Eagles' Kaitlynn Wickersham (match-high 18 kills).
The Sea Gulls led, 8-5, at the changeover in the fifth game, putting the match away with an emphatic Glowacki swing down the middle and Seifert ace to ensure the victory.
UMW's Katie Shiflett finished with 49 assists and 12 digs.
SU is back in action at Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
