Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No. 5 Salisbury University baseball team extended its winning streak to nine games with an 8-2 win at Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday.
Senior right-hander Jeff Hoffman (4-0) pitched six innings, scattering six hits and one run for the win and SU (19-3) posted 15 hits in the victory. Senior Chris Connor and sophomore Ken O'Neill collected three hits apiece, with Connor driving in three runs and scoring once and O'Neill hitting his second home run of the season to go along with a double and two runs scored.
Senior Tyler Bennett picked up his eighth multiple-hit game of the season with two hits in four at-bats and seventh multiple-RBI game with a pair driven in.
Freshman Max Shannon and senior Bill Morton relieved Hoffman. Shannon threw the seventh and eighth innings, allowing two hits and a run with one strikeout while Morton pitched the ninth.
Salisbury returns home to face third-ranked Christopher Newport University Thursday at the SU Baseball Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
