Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. – Senior Elijah Gore scored a game-high 13 points and junior Tim Harwood added 10 points as the Salisbury University men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid with a 64-40 win at Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday.

Senior Travon Vann collected eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal, while classmate Trent Epps recorded eight points and eight rebounds for Salisbury (13-6, 4-2 CAC).

The Sea Gulls shot 52 percent (13-for-25) from the field in the second half to pull away from Marymount (6-13, 1-5 CAC). Leading, 26-21, after the first half, SU scored 38 points, closing the game strong.

After Marymount's Aaron Walsh cut the SU lead to 26-23 to begin the second half, the Gulls used a 13-4 run over 5:10 to take a 39-27 advantage and never looked back. Five different Salisbury players scored in the stretch.

SU cruised the rest of the way, earning its largest lead of the night in the final seconds when senior Craig Ryan tallied a pair of free throws for the game's final points.

The Sea Gulls outrebounded the Saints, 32-22, and turned the ball over just seven times for the game. The Salisbury bench outscored Marymount's, 25-13, and turned 13 Saint turnovers into 18 points. SU shot 44.2 percent (19-of-43) from the floor on the night.

Freshman Kyle Savercool gave Salisbury a 6-3 lead when he took a Vann feed, laid it in and drew contact. Savercool hit the free throw at the 11:30 mark of the first half. Nearly three minutes later, Epps added two more from the line to extend the edge.

Marymount's Jesse Konadu sparked a five-points Saints' run to knot the game at 8-8 with 7:29 remaining. Konadu hit a layup and, following a turnover, Daniel Ferry knocked down a three-pointer from Antonio Rouse. Sophomore Chris Viqueira responded with a four-point play, getting fouled by Konadu and making the free throw to retake the lead with 7:17 left.

Ryan converted a layup from Viqueira and Gore made two free throws with 3:29 left before the break to open SU's largest lead of the opening 20 minutes at 20-13, but MU closed the gap to 26-21 at the half.

Konadu scored 11 points to lead Marymount, while Reed Scott pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Salisbury is back in action next Wednesday at the University of Mary Washington in an 8 p.m., tip-off.
