Box Score

DOVER, Del. - The No. 6 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team started its regular-season ending three-game road trip with a win over Capital Athletic Conference-opponent Wesley College, 24-4, on Wednesday night.

Senior midfielder Eric Kluge led the way with four goals in the game, as 15 Sea Gulls found the back of the cage. Freshman attackman Brady Dashiell and junior midfielder Tyler Smith each scored a hat trick, and junior attackman Rhett DePol passed out three assists.

The Gulls built an early lead, outscoring the Wolverines 8-0 in the first quarter.

Kluge netted the first goal at the 12:14 mark. After Smith netted his first, Dashiell started a six-goal run in the final 3:35 of the first quarter. The run featured six different goal scorers, including Smith's second, giving Salisbury its eight-goal lead.

The second quarter started with two goals from Kluge that were 75 seconds apart. Scores from Dashiell, DePol and fellow attackman, sophomore Wade Korvin built the SU lead to 13-0, before Wesley would score.

The Wolverines' first goal came from Dan Tryon, one of four Wesley players with a goal.

The Sea Gulls entered the half with a 15-1 lead, after goals from Kluge and Smith in the final minute of the second quarter.

At the half, Salisbury was outshooting Wesley 33-5, while winning 15-of-18 faceoffs and picking up 15 more ground balls (34-19).

SU added eight more goals in the third quarter. Dashiell added his third at the 4:50 mark, while midfielders, freshman Stephen Lambrides and sophomore Mike Hanna, each added their first of the season.

Senior midfielder Tyler Granelli capped the win with a man-up goal in the four quarter. Granelli was nearly perfect with his faceoff chances, winning 16-of-17.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Taylor earned the win, playing the first half and making two saves. Freshman goalkeeper Alex Desmarais played the entire second half and made seven saves, setting career highs with both.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Saturday, as they travel to St. Mary's College of Maryland for their final CAC regular-season game, which is set for 3 p.m.
