ASTON, Pa. – The Salisbury University volleyball team closed the Knights Invitational at Neumann University on Saturday afternoon, splitting its two matches. The Sea Gulls fell to Swarthmore College, before defeating Rutgers-Camden University.

Swarthmore 3, Salisbury 1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20)

The Sea Gulls were led by their attacking duo of junior Katie Stouffer and freshman Nicole Venturelli in the match, as the pair tallied 20 and 16 kills, respectively. With her 11th kill of the match, Stouffer continued her climb in the Salisbury record books, as she registered her 1,000th career kill. She now sits 10th all-time in program history with 1,024 kills.

Three Sea Gulls tallied double-digit digs in the match, as junior Gina Fischetti led the way with 14. Senior Kacey Franz and Stouffer added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Sophomore Alexis Howatt led the team with 35 assists.

Salisbury 3, Rutgers-Camden 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-15)

Stouffer continued her big day, leading the Sea Gulls with 15 kills in their second match of the day.

Junior Shannon Russell led the team defensively, with 15 digs, and sophomore Rachel Pierson led the setting with 24 assists.

The Sea Gulls return home for their next match, hosting Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday, September 22; the match is set for 7 p.m.
