CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team was back to work on Monday night, traveling to Washington (Md.) College, claiming a 68-62 victory.

After the game was tied at 9-9 early on, the Shoremen (3-3) scored the next 15 points to open up a 24-9 lead before a free throw by Johnny Fierstein ended the run.

Washington's lead grew to 16 at one point, but a late run allowed the Sea Gulls (5-0) to get the deficit down to five at halftime. Mike Ward scored five points during the run, including a three-pointer at the buzzer, with the assist going to Blair Davis. Davis also had five points in the closing run.

Salisbury scored the first six points of the second half with two from Marquis Roberson and four by Ward to take a 36-35 lead.

The lead changed hands two more times with Fierstein's three-pointer with just under 14 minutes showing on the clock marking the final lead change, giving the Sea Gulls the lead for good.

The Salisbury advantage hit seven points midway through the half, and the Sea Gulls held on in the closing minutes.

Ward scored a career-high 19 points to go with six rebounds while Davis scored 13 points and also pulled in six boards along with four assists to lead Salisbury in the win.

Salisbury returns home on Wednesday, November 28, hosting Goucher College in a game slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
