Salisbury suffers 10-1 setback at No. 3 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The top-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season against No. 3 The College of New Jersey in non-conference action on Friday night.

TCNJ (12-2) got off to a 5-0 start before the Sea Gulls got on the board. Krissy Murphy found Emma Skoglund at the 12:46 mark for Salisbury's (14-1) lone marker of the game.

The Lions rattled off four more goals in the first half to take a 9-1 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was a defensive battle, as neither team scored for the first 26 minutes and change. TCNJ finally scored with 3:04 left in the game for the only goal in the half by either team, making the score final at 10-1.

Gianna Falcone made five saves in net for the Sea Gulls while collecting three groundballs. Allie Hynson led the defensive charge with two caused turnovers, two groundballs, and three draw controls, while Anna Wehland also caused two turnovers and came up with three groundballs.

Salisbury has a short turnaround as the team travels to take on Frostburg State University in Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, April 21. The Sea Gulls and Bobcats will begin play at 6 p.m.
