Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – The seventh ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team concluded regular season play on Tuesday night defeating Capital Athletic Conference opponent St. Mary's College of Maryland, 17-4.

With the victory the Sea Gulls (14-3, 7-1 CAC) pushed their winning streak to eight games and officially locked up the second seed in the upcoming CAC tournament earning themselves a first round bye.

Salisbury used a third quarter offensive explosion to secure the victory, netting eight goals in the opening frame of the second half, which ties for the most scored in a quarter this season. Five different players netted markers in the quarter led by Corey Gwin, who netted three of his game-high four goals in the frame.

Gwin opened the second half scoring less than a minute and a half into the action before striking again three minutes later to push the Salisbury lead to 8-2. He finished his night with an unassisted effort to build the advantage to 10-2 with just under eight minutes to play in the third.

During the second half outburst the Sea Gulls managed to net 11 straight markers while shutting out the Seahawks (5-12, 2-6 CAC) for over 22 minutes of game action. St. Mary's finally broke the scoring run by the maroon and gold midway through the fourth quarter to bring the score to 16-3.

Emory Wongus, Griffin Moroney, and Tyler Snyder all tallied multiple goals during the scoring run. Moroney, who finished the game with three goals, notched two in the third, tallying an unassisted marker and finishing off one of Josh Melton's team-best three assists to cap his scoring performance.

Wongus netted his first marker of the game at the 4:02 mark of the third and finished his night with a tally less than two minutes into the final frame off a Zach Pompea pass. Snyder netted back-to-back goals in the fourth to cap the Sea Gull scoring run.

Both Pierre Armstrong and Jarrett Bromwell, who each finished the day with a goal apiece, also contributed to a big third quarter.
