Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 5 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team defeated No. 16 The College of New Jersey, 8-7, in its final non-conference game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon.

Skye Graham helped Salisbury (12-2) hold its fifth straight opponent to eight goals or fewer, picking up its fifth straight win in the process. Graham made eight saves to go along with three caused turnovers and four groundballs to earn the win in net.

Gianna Demato gave the Sea Gulls a 2-0 advantage just 3:09 into the game before the Lions (6-5) answered less than a minute later.

After over 15 minutes of scoreless action, TCNJ scored three straight goals to make it 4-2. Demato ended the scoreless drought with her third goal of the afternoon on one of Alexis Strobel's three assists. Lydia McNulty then converted on a free position shot to tie the game, 4-4, heading into halftime.

Taylor Poore, who caused three turnovers and came up with two groundballs, opened the second half scoring to regain the lead for Salisbury. A free position shot by TCNJ evened the score once again, but Emma Skoglund scored on a free position shot of her own to make it 6-5 just under 10 minutes into the second half.

The Lions tied the game at six midway through the second half, but Skoglund notched her second of the day with 11:54 remaining in the game to give the Sea Gulls the lead for good.

Demato tallied her fourth of the game on a man-up goal to put Salisbury ahead 8-6. The Lions were able to get within one with 3:34 remaining, but the Salisbury defense held TCNJ without a shot in the final seconds to secure the win.

Salisbury travels to take on No. 8 York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m.
