Sea Gulls advance to regional final with 18-8 win over No. 19 Colorado College

SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 7 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-8 victory against No. 19 Colorado College in the third round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams exchanged goals just 45 seconds apart, a little over six minutes into the game, before the Sea Gulls (18-3) went on a 6-0 run to take a 7-1 advantage midway through the first half. Six different players were responsible for the opening seven goals, with Emma Skoglund notching two of her three on the day.

The maroon and gold poured in six more goals in the first half to take a 13-4 lead at the break. Lydia McNulty scored two of her three goals before intermission, while Gabby Mongno tallied three of her team-high four goals in the first half.

After going up by as many as 10 goals in the first half, the Tigers (18-2) were able to climb within seven to start the second half, but Lindsey Wagner started a 3-0 run for Salisbury, finishing off an assist from Alexis Strobel, to put the Sea Gulls back up 10. Wagner recorded two goals and an assist in the game while Strobel tallied one goal and three assists.

Gianna Demato helped Salisbury outscore Colorado College 5-4 in the second half for the 18-8 final score. Demato recorded a team-high five points on two goals and three assists.

Skye Graham allowed just seven goals in 51:35 of action, making eight saves to go along with two caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Salisbury advances to the regional final on Sunday, May 19 to face No. 12 Amherst College. The Sea Gulls and Mammoths are scheduled to begin play at 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
