HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salisbury and Stevenson battled for the first bucket of the game in the opening two minutes of the first quarter before a Kellie Johnson layup at 8:09 remaining put the Mustangs on the board first.
- Lauren Fortescue answered for the Sea Gulls moments later with a three-pointer but both teams struggled to find a rhythm offensively. Stevenson shot 4-for-17 (23.5%) from the field to hold a 12-11 lead after 10 minutes while Salisbury was held to 4-for-20 (20.0%).
- The Sea Gulls went on top 13-12 on a Kaylee Otlowski jumper to open the second quarter. The basket kicked off an impressive 13-4 Salisbury run which spanned the entire second quarter, giving Salisbury a 24-16 halftime lead.
- The maroon and gold extended the lead to 26-16 30 seconds into the second half on a layup by Emily Dilger, but a 13-3 Stevenson run tied the game up at 29-29 with 3:45 remaining in the third quarter.
- Following a pair of lead changes to begin the fourth quarter, Salisbury saw its lead grow to as much as five points at 40-35 on an Otlowski layup with 6:33 to play. However, five straight points by the Mustangs saw the score tied again at 40-40 just a minute later.
- Fortescue pushed Salisbury ahead 46-45 following two more ties and two lead changes on a jumper with 1:13 remaining.
- Stevenson missed each of its next four shots in the final minute but kept coming up with offensive rebounds each time. With 16 seconds to go, Brandi Hall finally converted a jumper on the team's fifth attempt to pull ahead 47-46.
- Kylie Webb forced a turnover in the final seconds of the game, setting up a last-ditch three-pointer for the win but Salisbury was unable to convert as Stevenson hung on for the slim victory.
