Baseball at No. 7 in D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Poll

SALISBURY, Md. – Despite an impressive midweek road win, the Salisbury University baseball team dropped two spots from No. 5 to No. 7 in the Week 4 D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Division III Top 25 poll, revealed on Tuesday morning.

The Sea Gulls received 460 points in the weekly rankings, 13 shy of No. 6 North Central (Ill.) but 51 above that of No. 8 Webster. Trinity (Texas) and Cal Lutheran stayed pat at No. 1 and No. 2, while Washington University rose to No. 3 and Chapman and Babson rounded out the top five.

Salisbury played one game last week, traveling to Virginia Wesleyan and blanking the Marlins 6-0 on a combined one-hitter. Both Sea Gull games this season have come against VWU. The Sea Gulls have had five games canceled in their first two weeks of action, including a doubleheader against No. 9 Rowan last Saturday.

The Sea Gulls remain the only Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) team in the rankings. Christopher Newport received eight votes but did not crack the Top 25.

Salisbury has four games against top-notch competition lined up for this week. On Wednesday afternoon the Sea Gulls visit No. 12 Randolph-Macon with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. SU hosts No. 9 Rowan on Saturday at 2 p.m., while TCNJ comes to Sea Gull Baseball Stadium for a Sunday doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
