No.2 Men's Lacrosse prevails 14-6 over upset-minded St. Mary's

Box Score

SALISBURY, Md. – The St. Mary's Seahawks looked to play spoiler to the second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team but a five-goal run in the second half and SU's stingy defense allowed Salisbury to prevail 14-6 over St. Mary's in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) action.

BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • St. Mary's struck first but Salisbury answered with four goals to take a 4-1 first-quarter lead. Griffin Moroney notched a pair of goals in the quarter off of assists from Cross Ferrara and Jarrett Bromwell respectively.
  • The Salisbury offense cooled in the second quarter which St. Mary's took advantage of with two goals in the middle of the quarter to cut the SU lead down to 4-3.
  • An unassisted marker from Ferrara with just over three minutes left in the first half allowed Salisbury to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
  • Ferrara gave SU a three-goal cushion to start the second half but St. Mary's trimmed the lead back down to one, 6-5, with back-to-back unassisted goals
  • Salsbury woke up and went on the five-goal run which provided enough insurance to stymie St. Mary's. Bromwell put away three goals during the run with assists from Pierre Armstrong, Isaac Thrasher and Jack Dowd.
  • St. Mary's chipped into the mead in the middle part of the fourth but the Salisbury offense iced the game with a three-goal frenzy to provide the game's final scoreline.
