Balanced attack, timely pick-six leads Football over Kean, 32-17

UNION, N.J. – In its final road contest of the regular season, the Salisbury University football team prevailed 32-17 over the Kean Cougars in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action. The Sea Gulls are now 8-1 on the season with a 5-0 record in the NJAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kean scored first midway through the opening quarter when Robbie Nungesser and Dazzy Iannuzzio connected on a 74-yard touchdown pass.
  • Salisbury knotted the game at seven early in the second quarter when Dario Belizaire capped a six-play drive with a four-yard touchdown run.
  • After A.J. Butler intercepted a pass midway through the second, Andrew Petrino knocked in a 27-yard field goal to give SU the 10-7 lead with just over five minutes left in the first half.
  • Kean tied the game at 10 right before halftime with its own field goal from 27 yards.
  • The Sea Gulls regained the lead on its first drive of the second half when Joey Bildstein bookended an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run.
  • Ryan Muller doubled the Salisbury lead with a 70-yard pick six that pushed the advantage to 23-10 with 4:48 left in the third quarter.
  • Nungesser and Iannuzzio connected for their second touchdown of the day to trim the SU lead to 23-17 right before the end of the third.
  • A great 44-yard throw-and-catch by Ben Hutchins and Hunter Cleaver gave Salisbury insurance, 29-17, midway through the fourth quarter.
  • Petrino put the game out of reach with a 30-yard field goal with 2:59 left in regulation to extend the lead to 32-17.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • Salisbury tallied 342 yards of total offense with 172 rushing yards and 170 receiving yards.
  • Ben Hutchins recorded the first 100-plus passing yard effort of his career with 170 yards on eight attempts with a touchdown.
  • Hunter Clever reeled in three passes for a season-best 90 yards and a score.
  • Jaden Davis notched a game-high 64 rush yards.
  • Joey Bildstein and Dario Belizaire each registered a touchdown on the ground.
  • The Salisbury defense limited Kean to 25 rush yards and forced two interceptions.
  • Jimmy Celentano secured a team-best 10 tackles with a tackle for loss.
  • A.J. Butler had six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
  • Ryan Muller picked up his second interception return for a touchdown in the victory.
  • Andrew Petrino was a perfect 2-for-2 in field goals.
  • Salisbury pushed its NJAC winning streak to 20 games.
KEAN GAME NOTES
  • Robbie Nungesser was 24-for-50 for 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
  • Nungesser's favorite target was Dazzy Iannuzzio with nine catches for 99 yards and two scores.
  • Nas Neal was one of four Cougars with double-digit tackles. He led the game with 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
