No. 1/2 Men's Lacrosse outlasts No. 15 Gettysburg, 11-6

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 1/2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team pulled off a top-20 win in a tight defensive battle, beating the No. 15 Gettysburg Bullets, 11-6, on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Salisbury started off the game strong with an early goal by Luke Nestor to put the Sea Gulls on the board less than two minutes in.
  • After some tight defensive play from both sides, Jack Dowd put the Sea Gulls up by two with a man-up goal on a feed from Logan Posner at the 4:39 mark. Jarrett Bromwell added another goal with assist from Isaac Thrasher to give the Sea Gulls a 3-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Sea Gulls added another mere seconds into the second quarter with Bromwell's second goal of the game.
  • Salisbury closed the half with another Thrasher goal, plus Bromwell's third of the half, to make it 6-0.
  • The Sea Gulls came out of halftime with goals from Nestor and Thrasher to extend the lead to 8-0 at the 11:02 mark of the third.
  • Gettysburg finally broke out of their scoring slump with two goals late in the third quarter from Tommy Gill and Aidan Wykoff.
  • The Bullets rode the momentum into the fourth quarter with two early goals from Howard and the second from Wykoff, making it four unanswered goals to cut the Salisbury lead to 8-4.
  • Posner answered for the Sea Gulls at the 8:54 mark, but George Raymond found the net for the Bullets to get it back to 9-5 with 7:39 to go.
  • Salisbury padded their lead less than a minute later on a Thrasher's third goal of the day, followed by a second goal from Dowd that crushed the Bullets' comeback hopes.

  • Kyle Howard and Aidan Wycoff each scored two goals.
  • George Raymond and Tommy Gill added one goal apiece.
  • Spencer Knife tallied two assists and Howard one.
  • Jonathon Moshe and Zack Puckhaber each scooped up a team-high three ground balls
  • Moshe secured five faceoff wins.
  • Zack Kinsella forced a pair of turnovers.
  • Scott MacMillan had 13 saves in net.
