YORK, Pa. – The No. 1/2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team fended off a late rally by sixth-ranked York to defeat the Spartans, 13-10, on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Spartans started the game with a couple of quick goals from Ethan Greene and Ames Clark for the early 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the contest.
• The Sea Gulls stormed ahead midway through the first. Isaac Thrasher put the Sea Gulls on the board on a man-up goal in the fifth minute of the game. Thrasher and Josh Sanchez tallied back-to-back unassisted goals to put the Sea Gulls up 3-2 with five minutes left in the first.
• The Sea Gulls rode the momentum with a 5-0 scoring run through most of the second quarter. Two man-up goals from Jack Dowd and Jarrett Bromwell along with a pair of tallies from Logan Posner gave Salisbury an 8-2 lead with two and half minutes left in the first half.
• York ended the half with two quick goals from Ben Mayer and Dylan Wolf, to cut the Salisbury lead to four, 8-4, at the break.  
• York scored first on a Mayer goal in the opening minute of the second half before Salisbury answered with a three-goal run. The Bromwell brothers teamed up to close out the run in the 35th minute to extend Salisbury's lead to 11-5.
• The two teams closed out the third quarter with three goals in a minute and a half span. York began the rally with a Wolf goal at the 4:44 mark before Cross Ferrara responded with a tally a minute later. Vinny Facciponti closed the third with a goal that ended the third with Salisbury up 12-7.
• York went on a three-goal run as the Salisbury offense went cold to cut the lead down to, 12-10.
• Ferrara iced the game with a 1:11 left in regulation that put the game out of reach for York.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Jarrett Bromwell led the Sea Gulls with five points on a goal and four assists.
• Cross Ferrara and Logan Posner each finished with four points. Ferrara scored a hat trick and added in an assist. Posner scored two goals and dished out two assists.
• Isaac Thrasher and Jack Dowd each tallied three points. Thrasher scored a hat trick. Dowd scored a goal and had two assists.
• Brice Bromwell scored two goals.
• The Sea Gulls went 10-26 in faceoffs. Ham McPartland won 7-of-19 faceoffs with two ground balls. Eoghan Sweeney added in three faceoff wins with two ground balls.
• Thomas Ballard led the Sea Gull defense with three caused turnovers.
• Jarrett Bromwell, John DeFazio and James Gilfillan each scooped up four ground balls
• Z.J. Shahin earned the win with a career-high 10 saves.  

YORK GAME NOTES

• Ben Mayer, Dylan Wolf, and Ames Clark score a pair of goals each.
• Zach Mentzer and Clark each tallied two assists.
• Mason Smith had a game-high four caused turnovers.
• Vinny Facciponti went 16-26 from the faceoff circle with 10 ground balls.
• Jack Michael started in net for the Spartans with 12 saves.

• Salisbury starts a six-game homestand with the SUNY Geneseo Knights headed to Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday, March 16.
