COLUMBUS, Ga. – The eighth-ranked Salisbury University softball team concluded the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic with a Sunday split. The Sea Gulls dropped the opening game, 7-4, to the No. 20 Linfield Wildcats before closing out the tournament with a 7-0 shutout over 15th-ranked St. John Fisher. Salisbury wraps up the Georgia trip with a 14-2 overall record.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES VS. LINFIELD

• Emily Stockman drove in two with a two-RBI double in the second inning. Stockman also drove in a run on a walk in the third inning.
• Maddison Lednum had two hits in the contest.
• Carrie Jacoby had an RBI single in the fourth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. ST. JOHN FISHER

• It was a pitchers' duel through the first two innings before the first two batters reached for Salisbury in the top of the third. Abby Mace then cleared the bases with a three-run home run to left field to give SU the 3-0 lead.
• Lednum plated Lindsey Windsor in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly to center field.
• Mace launched her second three-run home run in the seventh inning to give the Sea Gulls enough insurance to close out the tournament with a 4-2 record.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES VS. ST. JOHN FISHER

• Abby Mace set a new career-high with six runs batted in on her pair of home runs in the victory.
• Lindsey Windsor and Natalie Paoli also notched two hits in the second and third spots in the lineup.
• Savannah Sheats threw a three-hitter with six strikeouts and three walks for her sixth win of the season.

UP NEXT

• Salisbury will return home for a weekend series with Clarkson and Susquehanna starting on Saturday, March 12.
• The games are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
